My Summer Bookshelf 09

I have five or six books going as I work my way through the Summer of 2009. Here’s what I’m reading:

Tribes by Seth Godin

Redefining Literacy 2.0 by David Warlick

What Video Games Have to Teach Us About Learning and Literacy by James Paul Gee

Librarians as Learning Specialists: Meeting the Learning Imperative for the 21st Century by Allison Zmuda and Vi Harada

The Game for a Lifetime: More Lessons and Teachings by Harvey Penick (You know, so I can keep my head down and all that stuff.)

Anyone out there with a recommendation? I might be able to knock one more out before School Year 09-10 begins.

  1. Wow! You’re a reading machine this summer! Great choices – Tribes especially – one of my faves! I read “Why Don’t Students Like School?” earlier this summer so that’s one I would highly recommend. Much of what he says is validated by other things I’ve read and what we’ve learned through our work with lesson design. Most of my other reading this summer was on Twitter. BLC in Boston was awesome this year and I picked up a copy of “The Art of Possibility” and I’m still working my way through that-another one I’d highly recommend. Saw the author at a keynote and love, love, love his message.

    • I’ve been following you on your Twitter handle. Good stuff! Esp. like your tweets from BLC and updates from training within BCSD. Its such an easy, quick way to summarizing what your learning and an infectious way to spread it to others!
